I apologize for the members of my species 
Who have taken advantage of you,
Not respected you,
Taken you for granted,
And are quickly destroying you.
But I admire you.
You are strong,
You are fighting,
You are beautiful. 
But they are stronger,
They are remorseless,
And I’m afraid they will win.
I am so sorry. 
I would cry a whole ocean 
Of salty tears 
For you to swim in, 
To save you from them,
And that would 
Probably be the best thing
I could do for you. 
I am so sorry 
I have let you down.
