I watch the snow fall from my bedroom window.
In here I am protected,
From the uncertainty
Brought by the rising and falling of the sun,
Who has the power to melt and freeze
The falling water.
In here I am protected,
From all the people who have hurt me,
Who have left me with wounds
As raw as the wind on the coldest winter day
That stings any exposed skin
And that unforgivingly takes my breath.
In here I am protected,
From the touch of the last snowflake,
Unique from each that fell before it
And the unforgiving blizzard,
Covering us all the same.
In here I am protected
From the cold.
